What This Is
The Invitational was built on a simple observation: the people running competitive golf tournaments and the people running fun golf tournaments are almost never the same people. One side takes itself too seriously. The other side can't keep score.
We've spent the last fifteen years playing in both. We've competed in high stakes gross tournaments and we have also been the loudest cart on the course. We don't believe those are opposing skill sets. Most tournaments just haven't figured out how to host both at the same time.
The Glizzy Golf Invitational is our answer. Head-to-head competition in every group. Formats that change every year so nobody gets comfortable. Rules that reward a well-timed shotgun as much as a well-struck wedge. No USGA handicap required, no pretending you know what a "net double bogey" is, no four-man scrambles where the team with the best eraser wins with the lowest score.
You can be good at golf. You can be bad at golf. Either way, you will be drafted onto a team and expected to compete.
The Format
Every year is different. That's the point.
What Stays the Same
Teams play head-to-head within each group. Always. There is always something on the line on every hole.
Captains draft the field. You don't pick your partners. You get drafted. Live.
Beverage-based rules, specific to each year's format. Past examples include earning a mulligan via shotgun and forcing the opposing team to take a mulligan via a successfully-executed beer chug. We take this seriously. Sort of.
One winner. One trophy. Bragging rights until the next Invitational.
The Field
The Invitational is referral-driven by design. Most of our field comes from existing players bringing in people they want to spend a day on the course with. We vet every applicant. We're not looking for handicaps — we're looking for the right kind of player.
If you have a friend who's already in, mention them in your application. If you don't, tell us why you should be.

About
The Glizzy Golf Invitational is presented by The Mediocres, a group that has been organizing competitive golf among friends since 2013. We've played in tournaments at every level. We've also played in tournaments where someone lost a shoe. Both informed this.
The name is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the most sacred tradition in casual golf: the hot dog at the turn. It's also a reminder that we're not taking ourselves too seriously, even when we're trying to win.
